Westcountry
Westcountry Television Limited has been the ITV contractor for South West England (Devon and Cornwall mainly) since 1 January 1993, replacing Television South West Limited[?] on that date. It has not made a notable contribution to the ITV network, but produces mainly regional programmes such as "Westcountry Live", the main evening news bulitten, as well as several regional factual series.
In 1997, Carlton Communications plc[?] acquired the station. In 1999, the channel changed its on air brand to Carlton (West Country Region). In 2002, this became ITV1 Carlton (West Country) on air, although off air it has been referred to since early 2003 as ITV1 Westcountry.
