Vladislav Delay
Sasu Ripatti, aka Vladislav Delay, Luomo[?], dlay, sistol, uusitalo, conoco, is an electronic musician of many monikers and talents.
He has heavily influenced ambient, glitch and techno genres. His method of track production is unique. It is a mixture of looping, sample weaving, and live reprocessing. Every track has an organic feel that pervades through rolling dubby basslines, hypersliced vocal snippets and much, much more.
Anima, released in 2001, is an hour long mixture of harmony, dissonance and layers of clicks and pops. It's as if the work was created, then Delay overdubbed himself fumbling around cleaning the studio. Anima pulled ambient music out of the realm of the ethereal future and back into the now.
