Three United States Navy ships have been named USS Quincy, after the town of Quincy, Massachusetts. (the first Quincy?) The second Quincy (CA-39) was a heavy cruiser sunk during World War II, at the Battle of Savo Island[?] in August 1942. The third Quincy (CA-71)[?] was also a heavy cruiser, named to commemorate her predecessor and commissioned 1943, serving through the rest of WWII and in the Korean War, decommissioned in 1954.
