Two United States Navy ships have been named Cyane, a Latin word for the blue-green color cyan. The first Cyane was originally the 28-gun British frigate HMS Cyane[?], captured by the Constitution in 1815 and taken into the US Navy, where she served until 1835. The second Cyane was a 22-gun sloop-of-war[?] commissioned 1838 and a key player in the Mexican-American War, finally being decommissioned in 1871 and sold 1887.
