A group of green algae, distinguished mainly on the basis of ultrastructural morphology. The sea lettuce, Ulva[?], belongs here. They are divided into the following groups:

• Order Ulotrichales[?] (e.g. Ulothrix)
• Order Ulvales[?] (e.g. Ulva)
• Order Siphonocladales[?]
• Order Dasycladales[?]
• Order Caulerpales[?]
