The Sound and the Fury

The Sound and the Fury is a novel written by William Faulkner. It was his fourth novel, and was published in 1929. The novel is broken into four sections: the first from the first person point of view[?] of Benjy, a mentally handicapped adult; the second from the point of view of his brother Quentin, a depressive college student; the third from the point of view of their sardonic brother Jason; and the final one from the third person limited omniscient[?] point of view, centering on Dilsey and expounding on religious faith.

All three of the brothers are obsessed with their sister Caddy, who had an illegimate daughter, Ms. Quentin, and abandoned her.

The first two sections make heavy use of stream of consciousness writing.
