Otto Lindblad
Otto Lindblad (born March 31, 1809, died January 26, 1864) was a Swedish composer, best known for his music for the Swedish Royal Anthem[?] (Kungssången in Swedish).
Otto Lindblad was the son of a priest and grew up on the patronage in Karlstorp. He went to upper secondary school[?] in Växjö and later went to Lund in 1829 where he studied. He and his friends, A. E. Christernin[?] and J. Meurling[?] played and sang pieces in three parts. They where soon recognized as the "musical trefoil band". In 1836 Otto Lindblad had finished his academic carrier and was ready to fully devote his time to music. In 1838 he formed Lund's student singers association. On December 5, 1844 he presented the Royal Anthem for the first time, at a celebration for King Oscar I.
In 1846 he undertook a national tour with the noted Lunda Quartet[?]. The tour's revenue was to have been used for student housing in Lund, but the profit was too small and they only managed to bring home 1500 riksdaler.
In spring 1847 he took a position as a parish clerk and organist in Mellby[?]. Eight years later he married Emma Andersson[?]: their only child, a daughter, died as an infant.
He died, aged 55, after a long illness.
