Occupied Japan
After its defeat in World War II, Japan was occupied by Allied troops, almost solely provided by the United States, from 1945 until 1952.
Many areas of Japanese society were affected during this period.
In 1946, the Emperor of Japan formally discounted his divinity in the Ningen-sengen speech.
The Occupation of Japan ended formally on April 28, 1952, when the Treaty of San Francisco came into force.
