Nestor

Nestor (genus) is a genus of parrots.

In Greek mythology, Nestor was the son of Neleus, the King of Pylos and Chloris. Heracles killed all of his brothers and sisters.

Nestor was an Argonaut and participated in the hunt for the Calydonian Boar. He and his son, Antilochus, fought on the side of Greece in the Trojan War. Though Nestor was already very old when the war began, he was noted for his bravery. Antilochus was killed in battle by Memnon.

Iliad I, 248; II, 370; IV, 293. Odyssey III, 157, 343.

Nestor had two other sons: Aretus and Pisistratus (Odyssey III, 414)
