Lynx
Lynx is the name for several wild cats
of the genus Felis, subgenus Lynx. They have a short tail, and usually a tuft of hair on the tip of the ears. They are somewhat larger than most domestic cats. The lynx is closely related to the bobcat.
Among the well-known species are:
- European lynx (Felis borealis)
- Canada lynx or loup-cervier (F. Canadensis)
- bay lynx of America (F. rufa), and its western spotted variety (var. maculata)
- pardine lynx (F. pardina) of Southern Europe.
