Redirected from DFAIT The Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT) is the union of the department of external affaris and the department of international trade that was arranged by the Liberal Party of Canada, Liberal Party[?] in 1993. The department still has two seperate ministes, one for foreign relations the otehr for trade. The current ministers are Bill Graham[?], for foreign affairs, and Pierre Pettigrew[?] for internation trade. The department is headquartered in the Lester B. Pearson Buidling[?] on the bank of the Ottawa River in the nation's capital.

Being minister of foreign affairs is often a thankless position as on most major issues and major conferences the Prime Minister plays the most prominent role.
