Opened in 1908, the Colón Theater in Buenos Aires, Argentina is one of the most famous opera houses in the world.
Built with a seating capacity of 2,500 in surroundings of classic French Renaissance style, the theater's design features a rich scarlet and gold decor. The cupola contains frescoes painted by the renowned 20th century artist Raul Soldi[?].
Over the years, the Colón Theater has hosted such opera greats as Arturo Toscanini, Jane Bathori, Enrico Caruso, Maria Callas, Placido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti.
