Brestskaya

Brestskaya Voblast is one of the administrative regions in the Republic of Belarus located in the south-west of Belarus bordering on Poland and Ukraine. Brest, which is located on the Western Bug River, is the capital of this administrative region (Voblast). Brest is the Western gates to Belarus.

The sixteen districts of the Brestskaya Voblast are: District of Brest, District of Kamemets, District of Malorita, District of Zhabinka, District of Pruzhany, District of Kobryn, District of Drogichin, District of Bereza, District of Ivatsevichi, District of Ivanovo, District of Baranovichi, District of Ljachovichi, District of Gantsevichi, District of Lunenets, District of Pinsk, and District of Stolin.

It is bordered on the west by Poland, on the south by Ukraine, to the north by the Hrodzyenskaya Voblast (capital: Hrodna a/k/a Grodno), Horad Minsk, and to the east by the Homyel'skaya[?] (capital: Homyel' a/k/a Gomel) Voblast.

Area: 32.7 thousand sq. km. Population: about 1.5 million (2002).
