Notes
Also recognised by the Canadian Kennel Club[?]

A bloodhound is a large dog. It's famed for its ability to follow a scent many days old, over vast distances.

Bloodhounds, unlike many breeds of dog, have the ability to follow a scent in the air. Most breeds follow the scent[?] marks on the ground, and/or passing objects. This is why many dogs will loose a scent after rain, or if it crosses water. The bloodhound's nose is so sensitive, it is able to pick up the much more diffuse scent from the air.
