Bernie Taupin

Bernie Taupin b. May 22, 1950-Sleaford, Lincolnshire, U.K.

Long-time lyricist[?] and collaborator with Elton John. Showed an early flair for writing while at school and he then started working in a printing firm. Answering an advertisement for a lyric-writer in 1967 printed in the New Musical Express, began a famous and well loved team of John/Taupin, at this point in time having well over 30 albums under their collective belts. Bernie's lyrics include such memorable tunes as "Candle in the Wind," "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me," and 1969's "Your Song." He has also put together a book: "The One Who Writes the Words for Elton John," and has himself recorded two works for aural medium.
