Bay is a color of the hair coats of horses, characterized by a body color of dark red (known as blood bay[?]) to deep brown, with black mane[?], tail and lower legs. Some bay horses may have darker coloration in bars[?] on their shoulders and rarely, a dark stripe down the back.
