Former Xena star Lucy Lawless will join Australian male model Travis Fimmel in the new TV version of Tarzan.

Lawless will play publisher Kathleen Clayton, aunt to Fimmel’s Tarzan. The series is a re-telling of the famous Tarzan story, but with a twist. Aired on America’s WB network, it will feature a teen-aged Tarzan as he adjusts to life in the jungle of New York City.

Lawless also gets a development deal with the network for a series targeted for the 2004/2005 season. If Tarzan and Lawless are hits, that deal may have to be put on hold.
