In a dramatic turn of events, the HotHouse’s most outspoken member
Trudy the pro surfer, has walked away from a chance at winning the
biggest prize ever offered on Australian television.
Without even a word to her carpenter boyfriend Beau, Trudy took her only
possession, her prized surfboard and paddled for the mainland while the
rest of the contestants continued their daily building tasks unaware.
It wasn’t long before the rest of her new found friends were wondering
where she was. By the time Beau went searching around the HotHouse
site, Trudy had already made it ashore, hitched a ride into town and
phoned a friend on the Gold Coast to say she was catching a taxi to
Tweed Heads.
Her friend alerted the HotHouse producers immediately and just moments
later HotHouse host, Erika Heynatz and a camera crew found her.
She was dripping wet, covered in mud with her surfboard under her arm
and asking locals at the Bribie Island shopping centre for a lift home to the
Gold Coast.
Back at the HotHouse site, the contestants were in disbelief at the thought
someone could turn their back on a $2 million prize.
Trudy blames the emotional torture of having to vote off people she called
friends as the main reason for her abrupt departure.
And with her favourite surfing contest only weeks away, Trudy says she
couldn’t survive the commitments of being in the HotHouse nor being away
from the ocean any longer.
Trudy’s walk-off forfeits her partner Beau’s chance of being set up for life
with a multi-million dollar prize package.
After talking with Trudy at length about her decision, Erika then returned to
the HotHouse to break the sad news to Beau.
Trudy’s actions automatically eliminated him from the competition!
A devastated Beau had no choice but to pack his bags and leave The
HotHouse immediately.
As for the rest of the contestants, the mastermind behind the alleged
alliance is gone and supposed “friends” will now have to turn on each other
at the next elimination.
