In a shock bombshell, two of SBS’s most popular personalities have quit.

David Stratton and Margaret Pomeranz have joined the ABC after presenting The Movie Show for 17 years on SBS. The popular movie critics will host a new show on ABC in the second half of 2004.

An SBS spokesman said the station is "shell-shocked".
Pomeranz said in a statement that she was not happy with the direction SBS was taking and it was time for a change.

“All organisations go through change and SBS is heading in a new direction. As a passionate supporter of public broadcasting, I did not feel comfortable with this new direction."

Stratton and Pomeranz are institutions in the movie review business and have been associated with SBS for 22 and 24 years respectively.
