Ratings for the first week of Ten’s new Block clone were less than spectacular.

Monday night saw the The HouseHouse kick off with less than 1 million viewers nationwide for the entire 90 minute special. Amazingly, almost a million more viewers turned on Ten an hour later at 8.30pm to watch Queer Eye For A Straight Guy, which reached a peak of 1.9 million.

During the week, it got worse for The HotHouse each night. By Thursday the 7pm show was hovering around 600,000 viewers nationwide.

Ten, however, are in it for the long haul.

"We believe in the program and the audience will build, just as it it did for Australian Idol and Big Brother," a Ten spokeswoman said.
