Seven News enjoys ratings climb

Whilst Nine’s news dominance is not yet being seriously threatened nationwide (it’s the number one show this week), Seven has made significant inroads with its 6pm service.

Seven News made the top 20 most watched shows this week with over 1.4 million viewers. It was helped by the super strong lead-in game show Deal Or No Deal, which often tipped the million plus mark during the week.

Elsewhere, things are not looking so good for Seven. Ten strengthened it’s overall second spot position by almost 2% points ahead of Seven.

The national top 20 shows were:

4 SHREK, Channel 9 - 1,671,043 viewers
5 BIG BROTHER LIVE NOMINATION, Channel TEN - 1,665,829 viewers
6 60 MINUTES, Channel 9 - 1,603,666 viewers
7 LAW AND ORDER: SVU, Channel TEN - 1,571,702 viewers
8 NATIONAL NINE NEWS, Channel 9 - 1,526,557 viewers
9 BIG BROTHER LIVE EVICTION, Channel TEN - 1,520,074 viewers
10 GETAWAY, Channel 9 - 1,516,275 viewers
11 E.R., Channel 9 - 1,516,091 viewers
12 LAW AND ORDER: SVU RPT, Channel TEN - 1,481,543 viewers
13 EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND TUES, Channel TEN - 1,467,439 viewers
14 SEVEN NEWS, Channel 7 - 1,464,166 viewers
15 NATIONAL NINE NEWS SATURDAY, Channel 9 - 1,463,964 viewers
16 SEVEN WONDERS OF THE INDUSTRIAL WORL, ABC - 1,454,592 viewers
17 THE BLOCK, Channel 9 - 1,450,819 viewers
18 NINE'S FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL, Channel 9 - 1,424,300 viewers
19 WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE, Channel 9 - 1,411,535 viewers
20 A CURRENT AFFAIR, Channel 9 - 1,410,746 viewers

The national primetime audience share was:

ABC -13.8%, Seven - 20.3%, Nine - 27.3%, Ten - 22.0%, SBS - 4.1%, Pay TV - 9.5%
