Will Colin McFarlane get a direct line to Batman?
SciFi Wire attended a press conference wherein Batman Begins producer Charles Roven talked up the Dark Knight's cinematic return. "The whole concept of this Batman is that it ... will be different from the other Batmans, because it's going to be much more reality-based," Roven revealed.

The producer even touched on the subject of sequels: "All of the seeds, if there will be a next one, are there, even though the exact story for what the next one will be hasn't been worked out. But we're doing Batman Begins, so you can imagine that you find out the history of the character, why Bruce Wayne went on the journey to become this character of Batman, how he got there, and also other characters within the story and they embark on their journey to become maybe some of his biggest foes."

Check out SciFi Wire for more of what Roven had to say.

In other Bat news, The BBC reports that Colin McFarlane plays "the police commissioner" in Batman Begins. McFarlane currently portrays Britain's first black prime minister on the TV series If. Thanks to "Dom" for the link!

Latino Review has posted a slew of Batman tidbits. In addition to reporting that Gary Oldman has signed a two-picture Bat deal, the site also points out this Sun interview with Blade II actor Jamie Wilson. The thesp reveals he's "reading parts for the new Batman movie, starring Christian Bale, and have also auditioned for Tim Burton's remake of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, with Johnny Depp."

Latino Review also links to this tidbit about the alleged ongoing Batsuit brouhaha at Cinemas Online.

Finally, Batman-on-Film came across this item at This Is Essex: "Hollywood moguls are going batty for South Essex. Movie giant Warner Bros. has selected East Tilbury as a key location for the next multi million pound blockbuster Batman film. Today engineers are busy transforming the 140 year old Coalhouse Fort into a ninja's secret lair."

BoF suggests that this site will serve as Ra's al Ghul's Himalayan lair.
