Australia’s appetite for new reality shows is not as high as our TV networks had predicted.

Seven’s My Restaurant Rules is the third new reality show this year to score less than 900,000 viewers. It joins Ten’s flops The HotHouse and The Resort as 2004’s underachievers.

My Restaurant Rules, hosted by Curtis Stone, managed only 850,000 viewers on Sunday against Nine’s return of 60 Minutes, which scored 1.6 million.

No official word from Seven on whether a timeslot change is in the works, with the familiar line of ‘we believe in this program’ stolen from the Ten Network.
