Eric Bana: No to Bond

The rumor mill has been suggesting for weeks now that Pierce Brosnan is out and an unnamed Australian actor is in as the new James Bond. The three Aussies repeatedly mentioned are Hugh Jackman, Heath Ledger and Eric Bana. Now both Jackman and Bana have addressed the rampant rumors.

"I'm just starting rumors about that. That's all," Jackman admitted to IGN FilmForce while doing press for his upcoming release Van Helsing. "I'm pretty sure there isn't a man here who wouldn't love to play Bond one day. But there's nothing official that I can tell you about it. I mean, they've made me no offer."

Meanwhile Bana, the star of The Hulk and Troy, reportedly told The World Entertainment News Network that he has not been approached to star in Bond 21 – and that's fine by him. "That's not something I've ever really contemplated," says Bana, "no, I wouldn't be a Bond, no."

Bond 21 hopes to begin filming in early 2005 for a late '05 release.
