Channel Ten’s new reality show has experienced more drama than it had planned for.

No, we’re not talking about the infamous catfight between contestants Eva and Tabitha.

A collision of a more serious kind occurred when a speedboat carrying an ill contestant, Erik, collided with a longboat carrying a producer, cameraman and sound operator.

“Both boats were carrying communications and safety devices and their calls for assistance were answered immediately,” the producers of The Resort told the media via a statement.

“The production unit nurse and one of the contestants, Prachi, who is a doctor, attended the scene.”

Contestant Erik suffered a cut to the head, while the producer and sound operator were taken to hospital to be treated for cuts to the head and fractured ribs. They are in a stable condition.

Erik had earlier been suffering from severe abdominal pains, later diagnosed as a urinary tract infection.
