Taking a leaf out of the success of the Law And Order collection, CSI will spin-off into yet another self-contained series.

A third CSI looks likely to start production this year and will be set in New York City.

Head of CBS Entertainment in the States, Nancy Tellem, says she is presently in talks with the CSI executive producers Ann Donahue and Carol Mendelsohn. All parties seem to be “very enthusiastic” about making a third CSI.

CSI: New York will be set up in an episode of CSI: Miami, just as Miami was launched from an episode of the original series.

The CSI franchise is a ratings winner in the States, and is consistently in the top 10 here in Australia on the Nine Network.

No cast has been confirmed.
