Olympic gold medallist Brooke Hanson is the first celebrity to leave Dancing with the Stars.

Dancing the Tango, Brooke and her professional dance partner, John Paul Collins, scored 22 out of 40 from the judges for their routine to Nelly Furtado’s Maneater. Last week they polled 19 for their Cha Cha. The public vote was added to the scores from judges Todd McKenney, Helen Richey, Mark Wilson and visiting international judge Bruno Tonioli, resulting in the duo polling the lowest score of the 10 dance partnerships.

Judge Bruno Tonioli said of Brooke’s performance, “The dancer within is starting to show, but it’s still a bit like Finding Nemo.”

Brooke, who danced for her nominated charity the Smith Family, enjoyed her short but amazing experience on the show.

“Swimmers just can’t dance it seems,” she says. “I’m so sorry to have let all my fans down and so thankful to John Paul for being so patient with me.

“Through the Smith Family, I hope kids can achieve their dreams, whether they be reading, swimming or dancing.”
