PREMIERES 6:30PM SUNDAY 31ST AUGUST ON WIN.

Australia’s favourite landscape designer Jamie Durie travels the world and brings the best of it home to Australian backyards in the innovative new lifestyle show THE OUTDOOR ROOM on WIN – Premiering this Sunday August 31, at 6:30pm.

Jamie’s “outdoor room” concept is an extension of the famous Aussie obsession with our backyards.  In THE OUTDOOR ROOM, Jamie packs up his design and gardening expertise and sets off around the globe in search of horticulture and design inspiration that will show all Australians their backyards can also have style, flair and practicality.

“With the weather resistant materials now available it’s easy to transform your backyard or courtyard into a living space with all the style and creature comforts of inside your house – I call it an outdoor room,” Jamie says.

Each week, a lucky Aussie family’s backyard will be transformed from an under-utilized space into an “outdoor room”, a stunning and useful asset to their home.

Jamie regards his makeovers on THE OUTDOOR ROOM inspired by his overseas travels among the best he’s ever created.  Whether influenced by a journey through India or an African safari, the weekly result is always amazing.  Importantly, the techniques Jamie and his expert crew use can be translated to an Aussie Backyard.  “It’s amazing what happens when you bring your holiday home with you,” he says.

For the complete international experience, every country Jamie visits will be represented by a weekly recipe from one of Australia’s top chef’s, including Neil Perry’s Thai barbecued chicken, Luke Mangan’s Japanese-style seared tuna or Tobie Puttock’s Italian porchetta.

THE OUTDOOR ROOM, a show created by Jamie, utilizes his full potential as a passionate horticulturalist and designer.  As a top garden designer, Jamie has traveled the world beautifying all in his path.  But he will never lose his passion for Australia; the laid-back culture and its uniquely brilliant native plants.  When he won a gold medal at the prestigious Chelsea Flower Show this year it was for a garden in which he proudly featured nothing but Aussie plants and materials.

For THE OUTDOOR ROOM, Jamie will be reunited with horticultural ray of sunshine, Jody Rigby.
