Last night's season finale of The Biggest Loser turned out to be a big fat ratings draw for TEN with the show delivering a peak audience of 2.35 million.

An average audience of 1.90 million tuned in to watch 20-year-old Sam Rouen named the winner of the series.

The third-season finale now takes its place as the No.1 show of the official ratings year in total people and 25-54.

The finale was easily the No.1 show of the night and carried the network to a first-place finish overall and its best Thursday performance of the year in share and audience.

The Biggest Loser Finale also won each half hour in its two-hour slot in all demographics by a wide margin.

TEN's chief programming officer, David Mott, said: "The ratings throughout the series prove that aspirational and positive TV can deliver huge audiences.

"The franchise allows for great emotional storytelling and encourages everyday people to make positive changes to their health and lifestyles.

"That's what the show is all about."

The Biggest Loser premiered 3 February 2008 and quickly became a ratings heavyweight. The show consistently drew over 1 million viewers and regularly won its timeslot in TEN's core demographic 18-49.

Meanwhile, Big Brother won its 7-7.30pm timeslot in 18-49, 16-39 and 25-54 and took more than 1 million viewers.
