National Nine News Melbourne won the 6pm timeslot securing 426,000 viewers. The Peter Hitchener led bulletin dominated the second quarter hour to give it the winning edge over Seven News (424,000).
In Five City Metro, National Nine News was Nine’s top program for the night with 1.315 million viewers.
A Current Affair was also a coast-to-coast top performer attracting 1.213 million viewers, 385,000 of whom were in Melbourne.
National Nine News and A Current Affair were timeslot winners in Melbourne’s advertiser preferred 25-54 demographic.
The live and interactive series premiere of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire gave Nine a 10 per cent boost in the 7pm to 8.30pm Monday timeslot peaking with 1.314 million viewers and securing an average of 1.089 million viewers in Five City Metro.
In Melbourne, it had the largest share of audience peaking with 506,000 viewers and securing a Top 10 position with 408,000 viewers.
Who Wants To Be A Millionaire’s new 90-minute live format is only the second time the program has telecast live anywhere in the world. With Eddie McGuire’s 294 episode experience, the first time was when Molly Meldrum won $500,000 for charity. Who Wants To Be A Millionaire will air live at 7pm Mondays for the next five weeks on Nine.
With news out of the United States this morning that Viva Laughlin has been cancelled after two episodes, it ranked fourth for Nine Melbourne with 322,000 viewers. In Five City Metro is secured 883,000 viewers.
In the breakfast slot, Today dominated over Sunrise with 91,000 viewers.
At 5.30pm Antiques Roadshow (250,000) prevailed over Seven’s Deal Or No Deal (243,000).
