Morello, you’re hired.

23 year old Morello is the first winner of the Australian edition of The Apprentice, taking the title ahead of 31 year old mother, Heather.

Morello, from Moonee Ponds in Victoria, will join Mark Bouris’ newest business venture, Yellow Brick Road on a one year employment contract worth $200,000.

Morello was credited as being a people person who was able to manage his team well though not always delivering the winning product, as opposed to Heather who always got the job done, but who sometimes left some carnage behind.

The 90 minute finale saw six axed contestants return to assist Morello and Heather in marketing a new men’s fragrance. Morello favoured the phallic like ‘Clyde’ while Heather ran with the easier to sell ‘Alpha Male’.

Whilst Heather was credited as having a better overall product, it was Morello’s people skills and blazing ambition that saw him win favour with Mark Bouris.

The Apprentice Australia has been a moderate hit for the Nine Network, buried in a later timeslot but attracting good word of mouth due to its high production values, the appeal of Mark Bouris and the dynamic mix of contestants.

Nine are yet to confirm to eBroadcast Australia whether a second series will go ahead in 2010.
