Olympic sprint swimmer Eamon Sullivan has been crowned the best cook in Ten’s Celebrity Masterchef.

Sullivan, 24, scored the most points ahead of beauty queen Rachael Finch and former INXS musician Kirk Pengilly to take the title in the special celebrity version of the popular cooking competition.

The Olympic gold and bronze medallist impressed the judges with his attention to detail and calm demeanour, creating a perfect 10 out of 10 dessert followed by a winning chicken that was cooked in an unusual salt and hay shell.

The win earned the athlete $50,000 for his swimming charity and a special Masterchef trophy.

Celebrity Masterchef is a spin-off from the hugely successful Masterchef Australia, which delivered record breaking ratings for broadcaster Network Ten. The regular series will return in 2010, followed by a special kid’s edition of Masterchef at the end of the year.
