Desperate Housewives and Brothers & Sisters powering Author: Seven Network | Oct 23, 2007, 12:21
Viva Laughlin is g-o-n-e.
The new seasons for Desperate Housewives and Brothers & Sisters – coming to Seven in 08 – are powering in the United States while one of Nine’s grand and highly touted roads to recovery is now a crater following the cancellation of Viva Laughlin after only two episodes.
Latest results from Sunday in the United States show Desperate Housewives (17.8 million viewers and number 1 in 18-49s) against a powerhouse line-up of NFL Football and the White Sox in a dramatic comeback in the final game of the baseball playoffs to determine the teams for the World Series. Desperate Housewives wiped out Cold Case along the way. Brothers & Sisters (11.9 million viewers against NFL and baseball) won its hour in all key women demographics.
Viva Laughlin could manage only a miniscule 6.8 million viewers and managed to lose one third of its already tiny audience between its first and second half hour. Viva’s departure from US screens opens the door for a new instalment of a new series for The Amazing Race – being brought into American schedules earlier than planned following Viva’s spectacular implosion.
