Seven Signs Jamie Durie
  Author: Seven Network | Jan 18, 2007, 16:35

The Seven Network today confirmed the signing of Jamie Durie.

Jamie’s decision to leave Nine and join Seven follows his careful consideration of a number of opportunities in television in Australia and continuing discussions with Seven on his future career.

Jamie will play a key role in Seven’s programming plans for 2007 – with a number of projects to be unveiled over the coming months.

Announcing Jamie’s signing, David Leckie, CEO of Seven Network and Seven Media Group, said:

“Jamie’s made the right call. He’s coming to the network that is going places. We are delighted that he took a look at Seven and at the other networks and came back to us – with the thumbs up.”

First up, Seven confirms Jamie will host Australia’s Best Backyards - a lifestyle factual series that takes a peek over the nation’s fences to find the best backyard in the country. This project was commissioned last year for Seven’s 07 schedule.

Jamie is also developing a promising and exciting new project for Seven in the second half of the year – details of which will be released at a later date.

Seven also confirms that Jamie will be a celebrity contender on the forthcoming new series of Australia’s biggest, highest-rating and most successful programme – Dancing with the Stars.

Commenting, Jamie said: “I wholeheartedly believe in the direction Seven is heading . Nine made me a series of increasing offers and we made no demands. In the end it was not a financial decision. It was all about the creative opportunities and the shows Seven offered me.”

Seven’s Director of Programming and Production, Tim Worner, said: “We have had eyes on Jamie for some time. He is one great talent and he’s made a very good call on his future career – coming across to the network that has the programming and has the series in development. Already, Jamie’s presence has transformed a strong idea for a programme – Best Backyards – into a great show.

Apparently, Jamie once danced a bit. Now we’re about to find out how good he was at it.”
