The WIN Network has announced the commissioning of a seventh series of the much-loved drama McLeod’s Daughters. The new series of the Number One Australian drama will screen on WIN Television in 2007.
McLeod’s Daughters, which was originally commissioned by the Network in 2000, consistently ranks amongst the week’s top performers and well ahead of other Australian drama programs.
The Network commented on the announcement saying “McLeod’s Daughters has been a triumph. After six years on air it’s as strong as ever locally and the overseas success is also something to be proud of. It’s a credit to everyone involved in the making of the program.
“The renewal is a big kick for the Australian television drama industry and the continued support from viewers is extremely encouraging.”
The series, which focuses on the hectic lives of a group of women running Drovers Run, a vast cattle property in the Australian bush, stars Bridie Carter, Simmone Jade Mackinnon, Rachael Carpani, Michala Banas, Aaron Jeffery, Brett Tucker, Jonny Pasvolsky, Michelle Langstone and Doris Younane, and will introduce Zoe Naylor, Luke Jacobz and Dustin Clare in the months to come.
Regular guest stars of the series, shot entirely on location in South Australia, include well known Australian actors John Jarratt, Sonia Todd and Marshall Napier.
McLeod’s Daughters has won a full swag of TV Week Logie Awards and is nominated for six awards this year, including a Gold Logie nomination for actress Bridie Carter.
McLeod’s Daughters is distributed overseas by Southern Star International to more than 230 territories, ranging from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe.
The series is a co-production between Millennium Television and Nine Films and Television.
After the Easter break, McLeod’s Daughters returns to WIN Television tonight with the emotional reunion of Tess (Bridie Carter) and husband Nick (Myles Pollard). Will it be the dream ending she was hoping for? Tune in on Wednesday at 7.30pm.
