The Nine Network Australia in association with FOXTEL and ninemsn has announced a major broadcasting partnership.

International television spectacular, Concert for Diana, will air on free-to-air television through the Nine Network Australia, subscription television through FOXTEL and on ninemsn’s online site.

Prince William and Prince Harry will mark the 10th anniversary of their mother’s death with an event to celebrate her life.

On 1st July 2007, which would have been the Princess’s 46th birthday, Concert for Diana will be one of the first events to take place in the new Wembley Stadium in the United Kingdom.

The event will feature some of their mother’s and their favourite artists. All of the artists are being invited to perform personally by Princes William and Harry.

Talent already secured for the concert include Elton John, Duran Duran, Bryan Ferry, Pharrell Williams, The English National Ballet, Joss Stone and Andrew Lloyd Webber, who will stage a medley of songs from some of his greatest West End Shows. A number of other major acts will be announced shortly.

The Nine Network will air Concert for Diana during prime time on Monday 2nd July, 2007.

Michael Healy, Director of Programming, Nine Network Australia said: "Princess Diana was an iconic woman who was loved by millions of Australians.

The Nine Network is proud to have secured the exclusive Australian free-to-air broadcast rights for Concert for Diana.

“By watching this unique and momentous television event, the Australian public will have the opportunity to enjoy their memories of Princess Diana and celebrate the Princes’ achievements in organising a global concert of this magnitude.”

FOXTEL will broadcast the full concert live via satellite on its flagship entertainment channel FOX8 with coverage commencing early Monday morning.

Brian Walsh, Executive Director of Television and Marketing, FOXTEL said: "FOXTEL is delighted to join forces with The Nine Network and partner on this most important television event.

“The combined resources of both organisations will ensure that Australians throughout the country will have the opportunity to pay tribute to the life and work of the late Princess by tuning in to this landmark television special.

FOXTEL will screen the event live on FOX8 and will show every performer and every performance. It will be a breathtaking television event."

Jane O'Connell, Director of Network Content and Services, ninemsn said: “We’re thrilled to be involved in this international premium entertainment event offering exclusive online access to the full concert.

“Through ninemsn anyone with access to the internet can view the concert, at a time that suits them. We’re focused on bringing quality online video entertainment for our audience and I’m sure Australians of all ages will enjoy the concert.”

Concert for Diana is a celebration of the life and work of Diana, Princess of Wales. Diana was a passionate champion of the rights of disadvantaged people and did much to highlight the plight of people living with HIV or AIDS, offering a visible helping hand to those in need.

Prince William and Prince Harry have followed in her footsteps, supporting work with the young, underprivileged and vulnerable both in the UK and abroad and becoming Royal Patrons in their own right.

Proceeds from the concert will go to charities supported by the late Princess, and to charities of which the Princes are Patrons, Centrepoint and Sentebale.

The Princess’s charities which will benefit are The Diana Memorial Fund, which was set up in her memory, and five charities of which she was Patron at the time of her death: The Royal Marsden Hospital, The National Aids Trust, Great Ormond Street Hospital, The Leprosy Mission and The English National Ballet.
