Australian Biggest Loser Host Announced Author: Network Ten | Dec 12, 2005, 16:50 |
WHO IS THE BIGGEST LOSER HOST? AJ ROCHESTER
In association with Crackerjack, announce AJ ROCHESTER, the multi-award winning author, poet, and stand-up comedian, will be the host of the local version of THE BIGGEST LOSER.
AJ Rochester herself is a big loser. A few years ago, weighing in at over 110 kilos, AJ decided it was finally time to turn her life around. Now, a trim size 10 and weighing in at only 60 kilos, she is literally half the person she used to be.
An accomplished writer, AJ chronicled her journey in her novel “Confessions of a Reformed Dieter” and “The Lazy Girls Guide to Weight Loss” and tackled the subject of childhood obesity in “Blubberguts”. She is also no stranger to the small screen having co hosted the top rating series “Mum’s the Word” on SBS and appeared in her own one-hour reality documentary on “Larger Than Life” on Foxtel.
AJ knows what it takes to succeed, not just professionally and physically, but also personally. She is hoping her own journey will inspire the 12 contestants that it is possible to change their lives.
"I am very excited to be part of the Australian version. I think people will be inspired to start their own journeys just by watching the contestants battle it out and succeed.
I could not have asked for a better job," Says AJ.
TEN’s network head of production and development, Tim Clucas, says he is thrilled with the decision.
"The Biggest Loser is an inspirational series that follows the often heart-breaking journey of 12 overweight people pursuing their dream of being healthy again. Who better to host the program than AJ Rochester, whose own battle against weight is an inspiration to everyone?" AJ will join the renowned celebrity trainers from the US series, Jillian Michaels and Bob Harper, who have arrived in Australia and will commence filming THE BIGGEST LOSER in Sydney this week.
THE BIGGEST LOSER is the series that challenges and encourages overweight contestants to lose weight as they compete for a cash prize, along with the title of Australia’s Biggest Loser! MEDIA RELEASE The first two series of THE BIGGEST LOSER have been hits in Ten’s core 16-39 demographic and with women 25-54, the excellent casting and storylines helping audiences identify with the contestants and their struggle to lose weight.
THE BIGGEST LOSER will go to air on TEN early next year
