Nine Melbourne - Mick Molloy And Nicole Livingstone To Host 'Any Given Sunday' Author: Nine Melbourne | Apr 7, 2006, 10:17 |
Multi-talented comedian MICK MOLLOY returns to the Nine Network this week to host ANY GIVEN SUNDAY with renowned sportscaster and swimming great NICOLE LIVINGSTONE.
The pair will take over as hosts of Nine’s hit Sunday sports program from Garry Lyon, James Brayshaw and Sam Newman. A third host will rotate each week.
Molloy and Livingstone were part of Nine’s team for the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games telecast. Molloy called the lawn bowls and Livingstone commentated on the opening and closing ceremonies, as well as calling the swimming.
ANY GIVEN SUNDAY was one of the hits of 2005 as fans latched on to its entertaining “anything goes” take on sport’s not-so-serious-side. That is set to continue in 2006 with Molloy and Livingstone.
“It is great to be back at Nine,” Molloy says. “Not only have I been warmly welcomed back into the Nine family, I have asked for and received Larry Emdur’s car park.”
Molloy is thrilled to be working alongside Livingstone. “It is great to have another elite athlete besides myself sitting on the panel,” he says. “I just hope she can restrain herself from ogling my Michael Klim-like physique.”
Nine’s Director of Sport – GTV, Cos Cardone, says it is terrific to have ANY GIVEN SUNDAY back in the schedule.
“Successful television formats rarely come along and ANY GIVEN SUNDAY has proved that it is a stayer,” he says. “Mick’s blend of sport and unique brand of humour was a big hit during Nine’s Commonwealth Games telecast and Nicole also shone. They are a terrific team set to lead ANY GIVEN SUNDAY to many more years of success.”
ANY GIVEN SUNDAY returns this Sunday, April 9 at 12 noon, following THE SUNDAY FOOTY SHOW, hosted by Tony Jones.
