September 1998 Suzuki Australia moved into new national headquarters in Laverton, Melbourne.

Suzuki make SWB and LWB versions of the Vitara. Long known as builders of small cars and 4WDs, the LWB Vitara has 5 seats and a 2.5L V6 option. Suddenly it is not so small any more. The Vitara is sold in the USA as the Chevrolet (was Geo) Tracker. The competition is the likes of Honda's CR-V, Toyota's RAV4.

Suzuki's other main lines of 4WD are the more basic Jimny and Sierra also rebadged and sold as the (GM) Holden Drover in Australia.
