Designed in 1953 in Flins, Renault Laboratory. First model in 1960. A lot of R2087 were used in the Algerian desert war of 1963. The French army used a lot of this car as ambulances. Some R2087 can still be found in Africa and known as "taxi-brousse".
End of fabrication: 1970.
Exit from French army: 1990.
No more R2087 in French army: 2000.
