The Snowy Mountains Scheme
is one of the engineering wonders of the modern world.
With seven power stations (two are underground), 16 dams and over
140km of tunnels it is truly one of Australia's greatest achievements.
The scheme is a vision that became a reality, turning water westwards to
provide irrigation to dry inland Australia while producing clean,
renewable hydro-electricity
The Scheme had a need for all wheel drive trucks during the construction phase and used a large number of Land Rovers for transporting workers over rough roads and four wheel drive tracks.
