The general advice to motorists if you see a road train coming is to pull off the road a distance, if possible, and wait. Depending on the wind direction, the cloud of dust will prevent vision and hide small boulders and other debris bouncing along in the truck's wake.

2000 August: A Western Star Constellation 4964EX.

The truck is operated by Charlie Chalmers to haul cattle from the Northern Territory. The Cummins `Signature' diesel (650hp and 2250 lb/ft torque) was selected for its power, giving higher speeds on long runs. The gearbox is an Eaton RTLO 22918B, 18-speed, driving into Meritor RT-52 axles with 4.56:1 diff's with diff' locks. Rear suspension is AD252-10 air ride by Neway.

It pulls triple road trains rated up to 140 tonne and 53 metres overall length.
