The Jungle Airportable Buggy 4WD
was a British Army experiment
to build a super-light four wheel drive that
could be dropped by parachute.
The Airportable was also small
and light enough to be man-handled through
rough and narrow jungle tracks.
It towed a small trailer
and both the Airportable and the trailer could be floated across a river
with the aid of a couple of empty Jerry cans to give buoyancy to the
Airportable.
This prototype was built in 1945
by the Standard Motor Company
and was at the Museum of Army Transport
Beverley
