This 1965 Australian ex-army Land-Rover Ambulance
was used by the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps (RAAMC).
It saw service in Vietnam where it acquired the name
Norma Jean painted on the front bumper bar.
Now beautifully restored by Steve Stansfield,
even down to a "patient" on one of the stretchers,
The ambulance won the best ex-military Land-Rover category at
Cooma '98.
Steve is a member of the Queensland Ambulance Service,
also the Victorian and Queensland Military Vehicle Corps.

as per series 2A
transmission: 4-speed manual, 2-speed transfer case, part-time 4WD
electrical system: 12-volt (twelve), H.D. Chrysler alternator
wheels: 7.50x16 tyres, front 24psi, rear 46psi
ambulance body: double-skinned aluminium with foam insulation,
tropical roof
colour: the vehicle was stripped back to bare metal,
careful note being taken of the layers uncovered.
It is repainted in Bronze-green, the official colour from 1953 to 1967.
In Vietnam it was painted over with clear-matt and later olive-drab
to render it less conspicuous.
interior: room for up to 4 stretcher cases.
Fitted with surplus WW2 stretchers, oxygen resuscitator, and other
medical equipment.
