1998 Wrangler,
"Eugene the Jeep", owned by
Burl Syers,
N.C.,
and with many extras [3/'01].
1996:
The coil-sprung Jeep Wrangler arrived in Australia for the
Australian International
Motor Show (Sydney) and the
National 4x4 Show
(Melbourne), October 1996.
It went on sale in November '96.
Earlier in the year the Grand Cherokee went on sale -
Jeep Australia is getting serious.
This truck has a proud heritage,
going back to the WWII Jeep MB,
and it looks the part.
It is rather low and wide for rough four wheel driving,
but some simple mod's should make it more capable.
For example, Teraflex Suspension,
and others, can loosen it up - for a fee.
The Wrangler is Jeep's attempt at a 4x4 sports car.
It will be interesting to see how many buyers
can remember the old Jeep nostalgia, let alone be swayed by it.
The biggest drawback for Australia has to be the small load area
and the low payload of only 420kg which must include the occupants.
It seems to be aimed at the "fun" market
but does a 4L cast-iron engine, and only 3-speeds in the auto',
stack up?

Holden Astra Convertible Turbo(Highly recommended sports car), from $49,990
This European convertible is a stunning car in so many ways. It's a great drive (with high performance 147kw Turbo). It's practical and apart from a small boot has abundant room for 4 or 5 at a pinch. It's loaded with standard features: air, power windows / steer, cruise, 6 speaker CD, ABS, traction control, airbags & more. It also looks great! My Managing Director's lovely wife owns one of these & I have no hesitation in recommending this car to you. A true bargain for a high performance Euro Convertible.
