2001

2001 April 1: Honda released a special edition model of the Honda CR-V 4x4, Australia's most popular 4x4 of 2000. Extra equipment includes in-dash CD player, alloy wheels, roof rack, and spare wheel cover, said to be worth 2.5K, but here "at a reduced cost". The CR-V Classic costs from 33,490 (5-speed man'), the CR-V Classic Sport costs from 37,990 (5-speed manual).

The Honda CR-V is revised for 1999 with 15% more power (now 108), new trim and various refinements. The new Sport variant also brings anti-lock brakes, electric sun-roof, alloy wheels and roof-rails. The car remains essentially front-wheel drive with rear-drive being automatically controlled by a multi-plate clutch pressurised by hydraulic pumps.

The base model CR-V now has air-conditioning, dual airbags, remote central locking, electric windows and mirrors, and costs 29,950 () for the five-speed manual. Four-speed automatic transmission adds 2000. The CR-V Sport, costs 33,950 (5m) or 35,950 (4a).

Automatics get an overdrive switch on the steering column "stalk", and a fold-down front-passenger arm-rest. The ubiquitous cup-holder has spread to the rear doors for the benefit of back-seat passengers.

Holden Astra Convertible Turbo(Highly recommended sports car), from $49,990
This European convertible is a stunning car in so many ways. It's a great drive (with high performance 147kw Turbo). It's practical and apart from a small boot has abundant room for 4 or 5 at a pinch. It's loaded with standard features: air, power windows / steer, cruise, 6 speaker CD, ABS, traction control, airbags & more. It also looks great! My Managing Director's lovely wife owns one of these & I have no hesitation in recommending this car to you. A true bargain for a high performance Euro Convertible.
