The Jackaroo started life is the
Isuzu Trooper,
looking like its main competitor,
the Mitsubishi Pajero.
As the Pajero has become more rounded,
the Jackaroo has become chunkier.
Both have grown and now offer V6s, a 3.2L in the Jackaroo's case.
This growth has left room for a smaller 4WD in the GM range -
the Frontera
made by Vauxhall (GM U.K.) which reminds one
of the original Jackaroo, funny that.

Suspension is independent at the front, like many medium 4x4s,
and live-axle at the rear.
This is a good combination on-road but does not give
the ultimate in wheel-travel off-road.
