The Isuzu General Motors Holden Jackaroo
had a mid-term update in late 1999 for the 2000 model year.
The most notable mechanical change was in the transmission:
Base models retained the part-time manual four wheel drive system
with manual locking free wheel hubs, but the SE
Jackaroos got a push-button "torque on demand"
system, i.e. an electrically operated multi-plate clutch to
take drive to the front wheels.
Low range is still selected by a lever mounted on the floor.
The 3.5 litre V6 petrol engine produces 158kW at 5400rpm and
310Nm at 3000rpm.
The 3 litre diesel (118kW at 3900rpm, 333Nm at 2000rpm) Jackaroos
got the option of a 4-speed automatic transmission
in late 1999.
The diesel is one of the modern
common-rail diesel engines, which
use very high pressure fuel delivery of 40,000kPa
to hydraulic/electronic injectors operating
at tip pressures up to 140,000kPa.
The Monterey (right) is the top line model
with all the "good bits" and an
optional luxury pack of leather seats, electric front seats
(they never say chairs) and wood-grain trim.
It is distinguished externally by rather fussy 12-spoke
alloy wheels.
Holden Astra Convertible Turbo(Highly recommended sports car), from $49,990
This European convertible is a stunning car in so many ways. It's a great drive (with high performance 147kw Turbo). It's practical and apart from a small boot has abundant room for 4 or 5 at a pinch. It's loaded with standard features: air, power windows / steer, cruise, 6 speaker CD, ABS, traction control, airbags & more. It also looks great! My Managing Director's lovely wife owns one of these & I have no hesitation in recommending this car to you. A true bargain for a high performance Euro Convertible.
