esc@pe bbbbbAD BOY 2004

esc@pe rooftopFord Escape Bad Boy 2004: The already extensive ZB Escape 4WD range has been further bolstered with the release of the special edition Escape XLS 2.3L Bad Boy Pack and the introduction of a second four-cylinder model, the Escape XLT 2.3L.

The Bad Boy Pack enhances the Escape's already tough image by offering customers a host of extra features, valued at over $3,000, for no additional cost over the recommended retail price of a standard Escape XLS 2.3L of $31,990*.

Included in the Bad Boy Pack is a range of seriously tough and stylish extras, from the front and rear skid plates, side steps and 16" alloy wheels, to the chrome-look bumper inserts, chrome-look side mirror covers and 'Escape' branded stainless steel scuff plates.

Ford Escape 2001: loa 4415mm, width 1825mm, height 1775mm, wheelbase 2620mm, turning radius 5.6m, weight 1570kg, engine 2976cc V6 petrol 4-valves/cyl dohc, 150 at 6000, 266 at 4700, transmission 4-speed auto', front wheel drive with auto' 4x4, suspension MacPherson strut/ multi link, brakes disc/ drum, tyres 235/65x16, fuel tank 62L, price XLS 33,200, XLT 37,300, ( 3/2001).

2000: Ford Australia is to launch the Escape 4WD in March 2001. The standard power-train in our market will consist of a 3-litre V6 petrol engine (150) with an automatic gearbox. As such, the Mazda-derived 4WD is a nose ahead of its new stable mate, the Ford Land Rover Freelander now offering a 2.5 litre V6 (and a turbo diesel).

The Escape comes in two levels of trim - the base XLS and the more expensive XLT. Air conditioning, power windows, driver seat height adjustment, 60/40 split rear seating and a roof rack with horizontal carry bars are standard. The XLT gets a 6-CD player, cruise control, power exterior mirrors, and P235/65R16 tyres on 16x7 wheels over and above the XLS.

The baby Ford 4WD has been sitting in the wings, it seems, forever and now enters a crowded market-place full of cross-over, car-like 4WDs, with monocoque construction, often with independent suspension and without low-ratio gears - Honda CR-V, Hyundai Sante Fe, Land Rover Freelander, Subaru Forester, and Toyota RAV4.

The Ford Escape gets its first Australian showing at the 2000 Sydney International Motor Show, November.

Holden Astra Convertible Turbo(Highly recommended sports car), from $49,990
This European convertible is a stunning car in so many ways. It's a great drive (with high performance 147kw Turbo). It's practical and apart from a small boot has abundant room for 4 or 5 at a pinch. It's loaded with standard features: air, power windows / steer, cruise, 6 speaker CD, ABS, traction control, airbags & more. It also looks great! My Managing Director's lovely wife owns one of these & I have no hesitation in recommending this car to you. A true bargain for a high performance Euro Convertible.
