Citroen C5

| Special Promotion |

2001 June: Citroen launched the C5 in Australia, from 41,990 () for the 2.0 16V (1997cc, 101 at 6000r, 186 at 4100r) 5-speed manual. The Tiptronic gearbox adds 2,000. Top of the range is the 3.0 litre 24-valve V6 at 56,990. Greens can buy the HDi diesel (82, 255 at 1750r) Tiptronic at 43,750. Citroen claims 4.6L/100km (highway) to 5.6L/100km (city) for the HDi, i.e. 1500km per tank!

ABS brakes, six airbags (two front, two side impact airbags for the front seat occupants & two curtain window airbags), air conditioning, remote central locking, and front and rear electric windows are standard. The 2.0 litre 16V gets climate control. The V6 gets an 8-speaker JBL sound system and CD stacker, alloy wheels, and electrically adjustable front seats.

The C5's platform will be used for a luxury `C6' due in 2004.

on the open road

2001 April: Citroen announces that the C5 "will arrive on 1 July 2001 and [...] has confirmed that it will be available with a choice of three engines, including [a] diesel [...]."

Prices and specifications of the Australian C5 will be announced when it goes on sale on 1 July 2001.

2001: Citroen will launch the C5 station wagon in Australia at the Sydney International Motor Show in spring 2001. The C5 wagon's world launch was at the February 2001 Geneva International Motor Show. Citroen has alays been a marque to go its own way in styling, producing cars that are unconventional but look good decades later.

Citroen's Hydractive 3 suspension system allows the load sill height to drop by up to 16cm (6") to aid loading.

"Citroen Australia is examining the possibility of ultimately offering a choice of three engines. The range will open with the new 2.0 litre 16 valve engine with 100. As production expands, Citroen Australia hopes to top the range with the new 152 3.0 litre V6 engine." Importing a 2.2 litre turbo charged diesel (98 317) version is also a possibility.

C five at the melb motr show

2001 March: The Citroen C5 at the Melbourne Motor Show. The luxury saloon continues the French car maker's love affair with Hydractive suspension. The C5 also has ABS, brake assist, traction control and no less than six airbags should the former prove insufficient. The car has a 152 3.0 V6 with either a manual gearbox or a sequential automatic gearbox. A 2-litre engine will be an option in 2001.

Holden Astra Convertible Turbo(Highly recommended sports car), from $49,990
This European convertible is a stunning car in so many ways. It's a great drive (with high performance 147kw Turbo). It's practical and apart from a small boot has abundant room for 4 or 5 at a pinch. It's loaded with standard features: air, power windows / steer, cruise, 6 speaker CD, ABS, traction control, airbags & more. It also looks great! My Managing Director's lovely wife owns one of these & I have no hesitation in recommending this car to you. A true bargain for a high performance Euro Convertible.
